Crystals Healed Me

Written by Landrey Sehmer

When I was 14, my dear Aunt's best friend, gave me a worry stone for my birthday. It was one of the most beautiful, magical gifts that I had ever received as if I was holding a star in my hand and could call it my own. She informed me the stone was for strength, protection, and grounding to remove negative thoughts and energy- a grey banded agate; it was rectangular with a smooth groove that my thumb fit into perfectly. I was enthralled, calmed, convinced this gift made me worthy. The truth is I was worthy all along, but I needed the gem to remind me that I too was precious even if the people of this world have not always treated me so. As it turned out it was just what I needed to make it through the rough years ahead

Since that day, healing crystals have been immensely important in my life as a means of connecting to myself and mother earth. I have found healing crystals allow the opportunity to open doors to nature's apothecary. Not only do they make a pretty decoration, but one can feel the divine energy from each precious piece. Now I take the time daily to focus my energy to start each day with intentions. Crystals have taught me how to control my own energy allowing me peace and guidance while becoming more in tune with others' energies and with nature. This helped me shape my understanding of metaphysical essence: using crystals to guide my rituals to care for myself, to reflect on how I impact others has made me a better, stronger, more thoughtful human. As Socrates told us, "The unexamined life is not worth living."

One may ask where to start? I would recommend looking at crystals and seeing which one draws you in. Reflect on what energy you need to be more present in your life.

OneLovePoetics offers a selection of stones you can hold or wear as well as stones within poetry-making kits.

I wish you healing, joy, and self-love.
